What to Do for Orange Shirt Day 2025 in Winnipeg

September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to remember and honour the children who were lost, the Survivors who carry their stories forward, and the families and communities who continue to heal and strengthen one another.

This coincides with Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led movement that helps us understand the lasting effects residential schools had on generations of families and communities. At its heart is the message: "Every Child Matters." The orange shirt has become a symbol representing what was taken from Indigenous children—their culture, their freedom, and their sense of self—while also representing resilience and the ongoing journey toward healing.
