Every single event we could find for Orange Shirt Day/NDTR in Winnipeg (2026)

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It's a day to remember the children who never came home from residential schools, to honour the Survivors who carry their stories forward, and to stand with the families and communities who continue to heal and strengthen one another.

It's also Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led movement that grew from Phyllis Webstad's story of having her new orange shirt taken from her on her first day at residential school. Its message is "Every Child Matters." The orange shirt represents what was taken from Indigenous children, including their culture, their families and their sense of self, along with the resilience that has carried communities forward.

This is the sixth year Canada has marked the day nationally. For some, it's started to feel like a regular day off. We've been asking ourselves what it looks like to mark it with more intention.
